ATLANTA – Late yesterday evening on June 26, 2017, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp certified the results for the June 20 runoff between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel. Secretary Kemp affirms that Cobb, DeKalb, and Fulton counties have provided the total votes tabulated for each candidate and that the returns are a true and correct tabulation of votes cast in the race.

Karen Handel ultimately won the race. The results can be found on the Secretary of State’s website through the Elections Division.

Certification does not preclude the state from continuing any current investigations related to the June 20 runoff or from pursuing any future allegations that may arise from this contest. Secretary Kemp encourages voters to report any irregularities or election complaints.

All complaints are promptly reviewed by the office’s Investigation Division’s P.O.S.T.-certified law enforcement officers, and if warranted, officers will open a formal State Election Board investigation. The office accepts complaints through the “Stop Voter Fraud” website and hotline (877-725-9797).

Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting secure, accessible, and fair elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities, charities, and professional license holders.  For more information about the office, go to
