QUALIFYING OPENS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13 FOR SPECIAL ELECTION IN 6TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
ATLANTA, GA – Secretary of State Brian Kemp reminds individuals that qualifying will be underway Monday, February 13, 2017 through Wednesday, February 15, 2017 to fill the seat for the unexpired term of Dr. Tom Price, U.S. Representative for Georgia’s sixth congressional district. The special election will be held on April 18, 2017.
Qualifying for the special election shall be held in the Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE, 802 West Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. The dates and hours of qualifying will be Monday, February 13, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, February 14, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, February 15, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The qualifying fee shall be $5,220.00.
March 20, 2017 is the last day to register to vote for all persons who are not currently registered to vote and who desire to vote in the special election. Advance in-person voting will begin on Monday, March 27, 2017. On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. A run-off election, if needed, will be held on June 20, 2017.
