KEMP’S PROFESSIONAL LICENSING BOARDS DIVISION DONATES LAB EQUIPMENT TO WIREGRASS GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE

MACON, GA – On Thursday, September 8, Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s Professional Licensing Boards Division donated optical lab equipment to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to expand their educational programs in the fields of opticianry and eyewear dispensing.

“After outsourcing the Dispensing Optician examination, we no longer needed this equipment, and I wanted to put it to good use,” stated Secretary Kemp. “Now, students in South Georgia will have access to additional resources and gain hands-on experience as they prepare for successful careers in these important professions.”

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Optical Program Coordinator, William G. Wilkerson, met with the office’s Professional Licensing Boards Division Director, Lisa Durden, and Operations and Compliance Manager, Josh Waters, to accept the donated equipment on behalf of the school. This donation included several lensometers, desk lamps, and a Scantron machine which were previously used for licensing board examinations.

The President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, Tina K. Anderson, thanked Secretary Kemp and the Professional Licensing Boards Division for their contribution to the school. “We are grateful to the Secretary of State’s office for the donation of optical equipment. The donation allows Wiregrass to better serve the needs of our students and our businesses,” said Anderson.
