Call for Special Primary Election for State House District 129

Notice is hereby given that a Special Primary Election shall be held on December 20, 2022, in Richmond County for Georgia House District 129 to fill a vacancy due to the passing of Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard.  A run-off, if needed, shall be held on January 17, 2023.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-134 (d) qualifying is only open to members of the Democratic party since the death of Representative Howard resulted in there being no candidate for House District 129 on the ballot for the November 2022 General election.

Qualifying for the Georgia House District 129 special primary election will be held at the Democratic Party of Georgia, 501 Pulliam Street, Suite 400, Atlanta, Georgia, 30312.

The dates and hours of qualifying will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., and Thursday, November 3, 2022, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m.  The qualifying fee shall be $400.00.

Monday, November 21, 2022, is the last day to register to vote for all persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the Special Election.  Advance in-person absentee voting will begin on Monday, November 28, 2022.
