Georgia Voters Post All Time Record for Gubernatorial Early Voting
Georgia voters will exceed 2.4 million votes cast by Friday evening. As of Friday morning, Georgia’s record breaking turnout continues with 2,056,545 voters casting their ballot during Early Voting, with 157,334 showing up on Thursday, November 3rd. Thursday’s in-person total was 4% higher than on the same day of Early Voting in the 2020 Presidential election. Georgia has had record Early Voting turnout since the first day of Early Voting this year, surging to nearly twice the number on the first day of Early Voting in 2018. As of day eighteen of Early Voting in 2018, only 1.6 million voters had cast a ballot.
“2.4 million voters will turnout during Early Voting,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “That alone reflects that our Early Voting infrastructure is among the nation’s best.”
Voters have begun to return Absentee (mail) ballots at a higher pace, and as of Tuesday, 204,549 ballots have been returned to county election offices. Only 1,564 ballots have been rejected statewide, and those voters receive cure notices explaining how they can cure any discrepancy. 71.6% of issued absentee ballots have already been returned to county election offices, which will reduce the Election Day burden on county election offices.
No substantial delays were reported yesterday. Today is the last day of Early Voting, and we anticipate longer lines this evening. To find Early Voting locations and hours in your county, visit the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
