Raffensperger: PSC Audit Confirms Accurate Vote Count

November 18th, 2025

Atlanta - Beginning last Thursday, county election officials in all of Georgia’s 159 counties hand counted randomly selected ballots as part of the statewide audit of the November 4, 2025 Special Election for Public Service Commissioner. The purpose of the audit was to confirm the accuracy of the results for the Public Service Commissioner District 2 contest. A risk limit of 5% was set for the risk limiting audit (RLA), a limit that is among the best in the country for jurisdictions that conduct RLAs.

Secretary Raffensperger is pleased to announce that the audit confirmed the outcome of the contest.

In total, county election officials audited 355 batches of ballots. Of the 355 batches, 351 (98.9%) had no deviation from the original candidate vote totals. The 4 batches with a discrepancy were within an expected margin of error for a hand count.

Below is a comparison of the vote totals for each candidate for the batches that were audited:

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger praised county election directors for their work, stating, “County election directors deserve our praise,” he said. “They’re showing why Georgia gets top rankings in elections every day. They have a zero-fail mission with tight deadlines, yet they always go above and beyond to serve Georgians.”
