Georgia Earns National Recognition for Election Innovation with 2026 Government Experience Award

October 19th, 2026

Atlanta - Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced today that Georgia's Registered Voter Information System (GARViS) has been named a winner of the 2026 Government Experience Awards, earning national recognition for the state's investment in modern, secure, and efficient election administration.

The Center for Digital Government selected GARViS as a winner in its State Government Experience Project Awards, recognizing innovative government technology projects that improve public services and deliver better results for citizens.

"Georgia doesn't follow the national standard for elections. We set it," said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. "When we launched GARViS, we made a commitment to modernizing the backbone of Georgia's elections, giving our election officials better tools and our voters a system built for the future. This national recognition is another example of Georgia leading through innovation, investment, and results."

Launched under Secretary Raffensperger's leadership, GARViS replaced Georgia's aging voter registration system with a modernized platform designed to improve the management of voter registration records and support election administration across all 159 counties.

The system represents a major investment in the infrastructure behind Georgia's elections, equipping state and local election officials with updated technology to manage voter information, streamline administrative processes, and strengthen the foundations of election administration.

The award comes as Georgia continues to demonstrate its commitment to election modernization, balancing innovation with the security, accuracy, and accountability voters expect.

"Election security isn't just about what happens on Election Day. It's about the infrastructure, the technology, and the people working every day to get it right," Raffensperger continued. "GARViS is proof that government can embrace innovation while maintaining its responsibility to protect the integrity of our elections. I'm proud of the team that built this system, the county election officials who use it, and Georgia's status as a national leader in elections."

An independent audit by the Department of Audits and Accounts found that Georgia’s voter rolls were 99.9% accurate and recognized Georgia’s best practices in citizenship verification.
