Yet Again, Reality Wins And Disinformation Loses In Court

August 9th, 2021

(Atlanta) – Election-integrity deniers were dealt another blow on Friday, thanks to the 11th Circuit U.S Court of Appeals.

Attorney and famed conspiracy theorist L. Lin Wood once again failed the standing test in federal court, unable to demonstrate that the state’s voting systems and election security initiatives caused him harm and violated his civil rights.

The appeals court affirmed the district court’s decision and dismissal, which referred to Wood’s effort as “astonishingly speculative.”

This decision reflects the spectacular defeats Wood has endured in his quest to overturn democratic norms in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia – having not achieved a single victory in court. His cases have fueled several bizarre theories, including that Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan government interfered in the 2020 election.

While Georgia’s election infrastructure continues to balance accessibility and security, Wood continues to assert conspiracy theories that are not supported by evidence.

Hearing the court’s decision, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger responded: “From day one, we’ve been committed to investigating every piece of credible evidence brought to us. We’re still waiting on the evidence from Lin Wood, Mike Lindell, and Sidney Powell. If they ever do submit actual evidence, we’ll review it. All of the evidence that we have seen so far shows that Georgia’s elections were secure and accurate, and Georgia has further increased the integrity of its elections by passing SB 202. Georgia’s elections have grown more competitive over the past decade, but bamboo ballots and the Chinese Communist Party aren’t the reason. Georgia voters can be confident in the next election, and America is ready to move forward from the last one.”
