Counseling Compact Is Live In Georgia
The Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists is pleased to announce that the Counseling Compact is now LIVE.
Counseling Compact began issuing privileges for the state of Georgia on June 2, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. ET. marking a major milestone in improving access to licensed professional counseling services across state lines.
Georgia has become the fifth state in the nation to begin issuing privileges under the Counseling Compact, marking another significant milestone in expanding access to professional counseling services across state lines. With the issuance of privileges now underway, eligible Licensed Professional Counselors can practice in Georgia using their compact.
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) licensed by Arizona and who live in Arizona will be able to apply for the privilege to practice in Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Louisiana.
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) licensed by Georgia and who live in Georgia will be able to apply for the privilege to practice in Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio, and Louisiana
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) licensed by Louisiana and who live in Louisiana will be able to apply for the privilege to practice in Arizona, Georgia, Minnesota, and Ohio
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) licensed by Minnesota and who live in Minnesota will be able to apply for the privilege to practice in Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, and Louisiana.
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) licensed by Ohio and who live in Ohio will be able to apply for the privilege to practice in Arizona, Georgia, Minnesota, and Louisiana.
If you are currently licensed in Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (Associate Professional Counselors are not eligible for compact privileges) and seek to obtain compact privileges, you must first submit an amendment application through your GOALS licensure account. Upon processing and approval of the amendment application, eligible licensees may then apply for compact privileges through Compact Connect.
As additional states implement the issuance of compact privileges, licensees in Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, and Ohio will gain the opportunity to apply for privileges within those jurisdictions.
