On September 24, 2024, Governor Kemp declared a state of emergency for the entire State of Georgia. The state of emergency has been extended for 66 counties (Order No. 10.15.24.01) and shall expire on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, unless it is otherwise renewed by the Governor.

Tips for Voting in the 2024 General Election After Helene
- If you are displaced, you can request an absentee ballot to be delivered to your new location. Fill out and upload and absentee ballot request here: https://securemyabsenteeballot.sos.ga.gov/s/
- If you have already requested an absentee ballot, but would like to update your address to a new location, fill out and upload a new absentee ballot request form here: https://securemyabsenteeballot.sos.ga.gov/s/
- If you have requested an absentee ballot, but would prefer to vote in person, you may show up to vote in person in your county and cancel your absentee ballot. You may vote in any early voting location in your county, or at your assigned precinct on election day. Find your assigned precinct by checking mvp.sos.ga.gov.
- Georgia requires photo ID for all forms of voting.
- For in-person voting, you must have one of the following IDs:
- Any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID, including a free ID Card issued by your county registrar's office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)
- A Georgia Driver's License, even if expired
- Student ID from a Georgia public College or University
- Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state
- Valid U.S. passport ID
- Valid U.S. military photo ID containing a photograph of the voter
- Valid tribal photo ID containing a photograph if the voter
- For absentee by mail voting, you may use any of the following IDs:
- Driver’s License number
- State ID Card number
- Photo or copy of one of the following:
- United States Passport
- Georgia Voter identification card
- Other valid photo identification card issued by a branch, department, agency, or entity of the State of Georgia, any other state, or the United States authorized by law to issue personal identification
- United States military identification card provided that such identification card contains a photograph of the voter
- Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government, Georgia state government, or Georgia county, municipality, board, authority, or any other entity of the state of Georgia provided that such employee identification card contains a photograph of the voter
- Tribal identification card, provided that such identification card contains a photograph of the voter
- Student ID from a Georgia public College or University
- Any of the following documents that show your name and address:
- Current Utility bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck
- Government check
- Other government document
- If you lost your ID due to Hurricane Helene, you may obtain a sufficient ID by of the two options below:
- You can obtain a Voter ID card from any Georgia Department of Driver’s Services office free of charge.
- You can obtain a Voter ID card at any county registrar’s office. In order to do so, you must provide:
- A photo identity document or approved non-photo identity document that includes full legal name and date of birth.
- Documentation showing the voter’s state of birth.
- Evidence that the applicant is a registered voter.
- Documentation showing that applicant’s name and residential address.
