How To Apply
- Licensure requires signatures across all forms along with an application fee. Some forms require notarization. See specific instructions below for these instructions.
- See specific instructions for application depending on license and application type.
- You must submit all the required documentation and fees to be considered for licensure.
- Please keep a copy of everything you submit to the board.
- The Georgia Board will only review completed applications.
- Once issued, the expiration date for all Audiologist licenses is March 31st of Odd numbered years. Late renewal period is April 1 to April 30 of odd numbered years.

After you Apply – What to Expect
- Processing Time – Applications are generally processed within ten (20) business days of receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. Applications are individually evaluated by the Board in order of date received, and processing times can vary based on individual circumstances and volume.
- If you receive a deficiency letter, your ten (20) day count restarts when the Board receives your correct and complete documentation.
- Please Note – Incomplete applications may be withdrawn if noted deficiencies are not satisfied within sixty (60) days of said notification. If your application is withdrawn, you will be required to restart the application process to be considered for licensure, to include submission of all required documents and fees. Application fees are nonrefundable.
- Completed applications will be initially reviewed by Board staff and some may require review by the Board at an upcoming Board Meeting. Applications must be complete and received at least fifteen (15) days prior to a Board Meeting to be added to that meeting’s agenda. Otherwise, the application will be reviewed at the next Board meeting.
- Keep Your Contact Info Up to Date
- Be sure the email address you include for yourself on your application is correct and current. Email is the primary means of communication used by the Board.
- Additionally, it is important for applicants/licensees to update their email address with the Board just as they would update their physical and mailing addresses. This can be completed online by the applicant/licensee.

Veteran’s Preference Points

- Proof of Continuing Education -2.0 CEU (20 Contact hours) (See Board Rule 609-3-.07). If the effective date of certification is not within the two years prior to the date of application.
- Official National Certification- Official national certification submitted directly to the Board by ASHA. A copy of the ASHA pocket card is not acceptable.

Applicants who have completed their Doctoral Degree, as well as have passed the required national licensing examination (PRAXIS) and meet all the licensure requirements for an Audiologist.

Audiologist Assistant
An Audiology Assistant means any person who assists in the providing of those audiology services authorized by the Board, who meets the minimum requirements established by the Board and who works under the supervision of a licensed audiologist.

Audiologist Required Professional Experience (RPE) Temporary Permit
RPE Temporary Permits may be issued to applicants who have met the academic and clinical experience requirements set out in Board Rules but do not have the post masters paid clinical experience required for licensure as an Audiologist.
Required Clinical Experience temporary permits may be issued to applicants who have met the academic and clinical experience requirements set out in Board Rules but does not have the post masters paid clinical experience required for licensure as an Audiologist. The applicant must have been issued an official transcript showing degree earned and date of issue. The RPE temporary permit is non-renewable and the RPE (full time) experience must be completed in no more than a 12-month period; Part time in no more than 24 months. Reinstatement - Audiologist
If you have previously held a Georgia Speech-Language Pathologist license and it has lapsed or been revoked, you may submit a reinstatement application, fee, and all supporting documents.
If you have previously held a Georgia Speech-Language Pathologist license and it has lapsed or been revoked, you may submit a reinstatement application, fee, and all supporting documents. Reinstatement is at the sole discretion of the Board. The following is a checklist of required documents for this application:

Reinstatement - Audiologist Assistant

Endorsement
If you hold a current, unencumbered Audiologist license in a state on the Board's “Endorsement Approved States” listing and wish to apply for licensure in Georgia.
If you hold a current, unencumbered Audiologist license in a state on the Board's “Endorsement Approved States” listing and wish to apply for licensure in Georgia, choose the option of licensure by Endorsement on the application. If your Audiologist licensure is held in a non-approved state, and you meet all the licensure requirements, the obtained by method would be by ASHA Certification ONLY.

Renewal Checklist
Audiologist and Audiology Assistant licenses expire every two years on March 31st of odd numbered years.

Fees
- Submit a completed online application along with the non-refundable application fee of $60 for an Audiologist license.
- To avoid a late renewal penalty fee, be sure to renew before March 31st of odd numbered years. The late renewal period is April 1st - 30th. After April 30th, odd numbered years, the license must be reinstated.
- Late renewal period non-refundable renewal and penalty fee for an Audiologist license is $90.
- Late renewal period non-refundable renewal and penalty fee for an Audiologist Assistant is $40.
- Submit a completed online application along with the non-refundable application fee of $60 for an Audiologist license.
- Audiology Assistant licenses cannot currently be renewed online. A paper renewal coupon will be mailed to your mailing address of record. The fee is $20.
- To avoid a late renewal penalty fee, be sure to renew before March 31st of odd numbered years. The late renewal period is April 1st - 30th. After April 30th, odd numbered years, the license must be reinstated.

After completing the online renewal application, unless selected for the CE Audit, CHECK your license expiration date online to ensure the renewal was completed. If you were selected for a CE Audit, please make sure to follow the instructions to submit all required audit documentation.
