Frequently Asked Questions related to the Georgia Board of Music Therapy

Applications are typically reviewed in less than fifteen business days. Applications are reviewed on a first in/first out basis. To ensure the most efficient processing time, please submit a complete application using the instructions contained in the application packet.

All address changes must be updated within 30 days after the change. When making address changes, please remember to update your email address. Changes may be submitted via your GOALS account.

Lost or stolen pocket cards should be reported to the Board immediately. 

You may print a copy of your pocket card with your GOALS account.

If you would like us to send you a copy of your pocket card, you would go to the same printing services where you print your free copy and select $25.00 license pocket card. Once order is placed and fee is paid, a pocket card will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days.

 

Please log into your GOALS Portal. Select the profile link. This will show you your individual information. Select the option for "Change your Name". Follow all prompts and submit a copy of the legal documentation granting the name change.

All licensees must complete and provide documentation of a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education through a provider approved by the Certification Board of Music Therapists or provide evidence of current certification by the Certification Board of Music Therapists. Continuing education hours for the 2026 renewal period must be completed between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2026.
