Nursing Renewal Information
Nursing Renewal
It's Renewal Season!
RN, APRN, and GAA renewals are open and must be completed by January 31, 2025.
LPN renewals will open in January 2025 and must be completed by March 31, 2025.
If you do not renew by these dates, you may not practice as a nurse!
If you hold a multistate license, you need to renew your single-state license and that will automatically renew your multistate license.
If you hold an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) authorization, you must renew your RN license before you may renew your APRN authorization. You need to submit two renewal applications: one for your RN license and another for your APRN authorization.
Multistate License:
If you hold a multistate license in any state other than Georgia and Georgia is not your PSOR, Primary State of Residency, you DO NOT NEED to renew your Georgia license. Do not renew your GA license!
According to the Nurse Licensure Compact, party states (states that are members of the compact) shall not renew or reinstate a single-state license if the nurse has a multistate license in another party state.
If you hold a multistate license in Georgia and Georgia is not your PSOR, please contact the nursing board.
According to the National Licensure Compact, you must hold a multistate license in your PSOR, Primary State of Residency. You cannot hold a multistate license in a state you do not primarily reside in.
- If you hold a multistate license in Georgia and Georgia is your PSOR, please renew your Georgia license.
If you have a multistate license and are moving, please refer to this guide: 2018_Moving_Scenarios_Factsheet.pdf (nursecompact.com)
