How To Apply

  • Create an account in GOALS.
  • Select the license type for which you wish to apply.
  • Complete the online application, provide required documentation and information, and submit the required fee. 

Renewal of License

  • License renewal is conducted online and must be completed by November 30 of odd-numbered years.
  • A late renewal period is available from December 1 to December 31 of odd-numbered years.

After you Apply – What to Expect

  • Processing Time – Applications are generally processed within 20 business days of receipt, excluding weekends and holidays, and are reviewed by staff in order of receipt. Processing times can vary based on individual circumstances and volume.
    • If you receive a deficiency letter, your 20-day count restarts when the Board receives your correct and complete documentation.
    • Incomplete Applications Policy - Incomplete applications may be withdrawn if noted deficiencies are not satisfied within 60 days of said notification. If your application is withdrawn, you will be required to restart the application process to be considered for licensure, including submission of all required documents and fees.
    • Completed applications will first be reviewed by Board staff and may then be presented to the Board at a scheduled meeting.
    • Applications must be complete at least 15 days before a Board meeting to be included on that meeting’s agenda. If not, they will be reviewed at the following meeting.

    • Email is the primary means of communication with you about your application. Be sure your email address is always correct and current.
  • A license is required to work
    • You may not legally perform services until you hold an active license.
    • Staff will communicate with you regarding the status of your application, and you may check your application status online.

Veterans Preference Points

Veterans, military service members, transitioning service members, and military spouses of the United States armed forces, including the National Guard, may be eligible for exam point credits and/or expedited application processing. Download program information>>

  • To claim Veteran’s Preference Points, you must upload a copy of your DD-214 form, showing that you served during a period of conflict or war for a minimum of 90 days. Contact the VA to request a DD-214 Request >>

Restricted License

If you have never held a Conditioned Air Contractor Class 1 (restricted) license, complete the Licensure by Examination application.

If you have never held a Conditioned Air Contractor Class 1 (restricted) license, complete the Licensure by Examination application. You will need Board approval to sit for the exam. Class 1 restricted = systems not exceeding 175,000 BTU of heating and 60,000 BTU of cooling.

Non-Restricted License

If you have never held a Conditioned Air Contractor Class 2 (Unrestricted) license, complete the Licensure by Examination application. You will need Board approval to sit for the exam.

If you have never been licensed with a Class 2 non-restricted license before and have completed the requirements, apply for licensure by examination before you take the exam.

Business Registration

Please complete a Business Registration application to associate a qualifying licensee with a company and to obtain a business registration number.

Reinstatement

If you have previously held a Georgia Conditioned Air Contractor license that has been expired or lapsed for less than three years, you must submit a reinstatement application and fee.

Reinstatement after 3 Years

If you have previously held a Conditioned Air Contractor license that has been expired or lapsed for three or more years, submit a reinstatement application and $310 fee. You will be required to pass an exam for reinstatement of this license.
