How to Apply

If you would like to apply as a CE Provider, it is required that you file with the Secretary of State and apply annually for the approval of the courses you will offer. Review the requirements and the step-by-step guide below. 

  • Licensure requires completing an application and paying the required fees.
  • See specific instructions for application depending on license and application type.
  • You must submit all the required documentation and fees to be considered for licensure.
  • Course approvals are only valid for the calendar year during which it is approved. You must reapply for approval of the course annually. If you change the course content, method of administration, or course presenters/speakers, you must reapply for approval.

  • Processing Time – Applications are individually evaluated by the Board in order of date received, and processing times can vary based on individual circumstances and volume.
    • Completed applications will be initially reviewed by Board staff and may be reviewed by the Board at an upcoming Board Meeting. Applications must be complete and received at least 15 days prior to a Board Meeting to be added to that meeting’s agenda. Otherwise, the application will be reviewed at the next Board meeting. Therefore, it is important that you are aware of the established board meeting dates AND submit your application no less than 60 days before the course is to be offered to ensure that the Board can render a decision on the application timely.
    • If you receive a deficiency letter, please submit the requested items at one time within 7 business days.
    • Please Note – Incomplete applications may be withdrawn if noted deficiencies are not satisfied within 60 days of said notification. If your application is withdrawn, you will be required to restart the application approval process, including resubmission of all required documents and fees.

    • Be sure the email address you include for yourself on your application is correct and current. Email is the primary means of communication for the Board.
    • Additionally, it is important to update all contact information and addresses, including your email address, with the Board immediately following a change to ensure that you are able to receive important information about your application and course approval.
  • Wait For It
    • You may not advertise any course as being approved for Georgia licensees until you have received notice of Board approval. If you intend to offer the same course, with no changes, on multiple dates please include all dates within the application submitted.
    • If you wish to offer an approved course on additional dates that were not previously submitted to the Board, you may do so if:
      • The additional dates are within the same calendar year that your approval code was issued; and,
      • The instructors, content, method of instruction or agenda do not change; and,
      • You have submitted an amendment including the additional dates to the Board; and,
      • An amendment noting the additional date(s) has been submitted to the Board AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE  licensees have the ability to register to take the course.
  • If any changes to a course is made, you must submit a new application with the required fee.

Continuing Education Provider

All CE Providers providing continuing education courses on laws, ethics, and professionalism (LEAP) and/or do not meet the requirements for blanket approval of their CE coursework, must apply for board approval of their courses.

All C.E. providers seeking approval from the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine to offer a continuing education program must comply with Board Rules 700-7-.03 and 700-7-.04 and submit a Continuing Education Program Application for each program presented. The application should be submitted 60 days in advance of the date the course is being offered. Applications will be voided 60 days after the date of notification of any application deficiencies. If all required supplemental documents are not received within that 60-day window, your application will be withdrawn, and you will need to re-apply.

Applicants will receive written correspondence from the Board regarding any decision to grant or deny approval.

The following is a checklist of documents required for this application:

  • Program Evaluation Method or Instrument
  • Method of Attendance Tracking
  • Copy of Program Completion Certificate
  • Secure & Verifiable Document
  • Affidavit of Citizenship
  • Immigration Documents (If applicable)

If the continuing education application and materials are not submitted 60 days in advance of the date the course is to be offered, the continuing education provider will be assessed a monetary penalty and/or additional terms and conditions which coincide with the number of times the provider has failed to submit a timely application. 

  • First offense: $ 100.00 Penalty to be paid in full at the time of application submission.
  • Second offense: $ 200.00 Penalty to be paid in full at the time of application submission AND the continuing education provider will not be allowed to submit any additional courses for approval for a period of 90 days from the Board’s decision on the continuing education application in question.
  • Third offense: A $ 300.00 Penalty to be paid in full at the time of application submission AND the continuing education provider will not be allowed to submit any additional courses for approval for a period of six months from the Board’s decision on the continuing education application in question.
  • Fourth offense: The continuing education provider will be presented to the Board to determine the next course of action.
